Hi there! I am Andrea Walker, but I prefer to go by my first and middle names: Andrea Michelle. I was born and raised in the vibrant city of Detroit, Michigan, and I've had the pleasure of calling the metro area home for most2 Column of my life. I am the daughter of two of the most loving and supportive parents; I've witnessed them grow and evolve in love and life for the past 42 years. I am a proud mom to a remarkably resilient, brave, and brilliant son and daughter. Also, I am the eldest sister to 3 phenomenally dynamic young women, an ingenious younger brother, and a charismatic older brother. I also have the joy of being an auntie to four nephews and nine nieces! I deeply cherish my family, as their unwavering support throughout this incredible journey called life has been truly immeasurable, in ways they might not even realize!
I spent many years as a contractor in the healthcare industry, working at various hospitals across different states in the U.S. It was an incredible experience, but as my time came to an end, I began to feel a constant sense of discontent and dread each morning. That's when I realized the challenge: showing up every day, expected to perform at my best, even though the work no longer aligned with my true purpose.
Now, let's fast forward to the present, about 3 years after my life-altering realization.
I have since successfully transitioned into a more promising and rewarding profession as a clinical and transpersonal hypnotherapist. Let me start by saying, I absolutely adore hypnotherapy! It's an incredibly powerful and transformative tool that has not only changed my own life but also the lives of my clients.
Transitioning into this work has been the most fulfilling and gratifying experience I've ever embarked on. Nothing brings me more joy than witnessing my clients experience real-time breakthroughs and transformations during our one-on-one sessions! Helping them rediscover their truest essence and move from feeling stuck to completely empowered is immensely rewarding.
I truly believe that we all have a specific calling and purpose, and from the depths of my being, I know without a doubt that this is my life's work. I am honored to serve humanity in this way and sincerely grateful for the opportunity to guide you on your own journey of self-discovery, transformation, and empowerment.
Oh man, I am totally convinced that my hypnotherapy journey was no coincidence! I've always been pretty health-conscious throughout my life—mindful of the foods I eat, regularly exercising to maintain physical health, and keeping mental stress at bay. And I think I did a pretty good job taking care of my physical body for the most part. But as I grew older, I started noticing certain behaviors and patterns in my life that I didn't like and wanted to change. Soon, I found myself gravitating towards all things self-help. I read books, followed a few influencers, and eventually stumbled upon a women's sisterhood group designed to help women release limitations and improve relationships—let me tell you, it was absolutely amazing! The curriculum and exercises were outstanding, and the staff consisted of incredibly beautiful, dynamic, self-assured, and relentlessly supportive women. These ladies were once in my shoes but managed to overcome their internal "stuff" and now stand strong, proud, and eager to help their fellow sisters on their healing journey. I was completely inspired and in awe, determined to do whatever it took to become as assertive and self-assured as these incredible ladies.
During the program, I gained a deeper understanding of various aspects of the subconscious mind. One particular topic that stood out for me was the relationship dynamic between parent and child. It was fascinating to discover how our initial relationship with our parents sets the foundation for how we perceive and experience our adult relationships. This definitely was one of the most intriguing, eye-opening moments I had during the course!
There was this particular moment in the program that I truly believe was the catalyst for where I am today. We were given a fairly easy homework assignment – to prepare a presentation discussing the connections between our adult relationship patterns and our childhood parental relationships, highlighting the similarities. As a devoted student, I meticulously outlined and rehearsed my presentation, determined to make it absolutely flawless! On the big day, I woke up feeling a little nervous, but quickly reminded myself that this wasn't grade school anymore, and I could be as open, honest, and authentic as I wanted; besides, that was the entire purpose of the program! Despite my nerves, I bravely proceeded with my presentation.
About three minutes into my presentation, I suddenly realized all eyes were on me! The "room" fell completely silent, and I became the center of attention.
So, let me backup a bit and explain. The program was conducted online, via Zoom, and even though no one was physically there, it didn't make a difference. It felt just as intense! Immediately, this feeling of horror and dread washed over me. My heart started pounding very fast and heavy, as if it were trying to escape my chest! Then I realized I couldn't breathe, and at that point, my mind just went completely blank. It felt like I was on the verge of fainting! But despite all of that, I was determined to keep going! I'm almost certain that, at that point, all the words coming out of my mouth were complete incomprehensible gibberish! I honestly don't know because the only thing I could hear was the pounding thud of my heart. And then, to add to the chaos, my vision blacked out too! To make a long story short, despite all my preparations, my presentation went all the way left! It felt like hours, but eventually, I heard my instructor's voice saying, "Okaaaaaay, thank you. Let's move on to..." And just like that, I snapped back to reality. I was utterly mortified! Not only was I deeply embarrassed, but I was also incredibly confused. I had no idea what happened to me. I completely lost control of my body, and I didn't understand why. I beat myself up for weeks, too ashamed to even show up again, so I ended up dropping out of the program. The following weeks were spent deeply reflecting, determined to understand what had happened to me and why - and, most importantly, how to fix it. So, I ended up shifting from self-help to traditional spirituality.
In my search for solace in my ancestral roots, I discovered a dynamic metaphysician and priestess who immediately resonated with me. I immersed myself in her content and booked a consultation. However, she was pretty busy, so I had to wait for about a month before our meeting.
Eventually, I began to feel a sense of normalcy again, and In the meantime, I shifted my focus back to taking care of my physical body. I started on a 30-day herbal detox and fully immersed myself in healthy eating and exercise, as I had been slacking a bit.
During the course of my detox, my morning routine included meditation, sipping my herbal teas, prepping my juices for the day, and tuning in to one of my favorite podcasters at the time. She is a certified nutritionist and created a show dedicated to holistic wellness and healing. Each episode featured a health expert specialized in their own field.
The show was incredibly informative and inspiring, and it is the reason I have adopted many of my current health practices.
There was one episode in particular that I believed served as a reminder of my original mission: uncovering what happened to me during that dreadful presentation in the sisterhood group. The guest was a Clinical Hypnotherapist from Los Angeles, California. This was my very first introduction to Hypnotherapy, I did have vague knowledge about hypnosis, but nothing concrete. I had recently seen the movie Get Out, so the furthest thing from my mind was experiencing hypnosis. I had no desire to go to the sunken place, lol. But as I continued to listen, I learned hypnosis was not mind control and, in fact, the state of hypnosis can be used as a form of accelerated therapy; therapy for the functional person, that is. I also learned about the intricacies of the subconscious mind and how it is, in fact, the part of our mind that governs how we react and respond to literally everything in our lives—EVERYTHING—despite our conscious efforts.
This moment took me back about 8 years prior. I was listening to a metaphysical blog talk radio show, and the host would often have listeners come on as guests. One day, I decided I wanted to talk to her. I wanted to see what advice she’d have for me. So, I pressed one on my phone to put myself in her caller queue. Sure enough, despite the thousands of listeners, she surprisingly selected my number first!
I honestly don't remember my exact question, and I really don't remember any of what she said except for the following, “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” This is one of the many famous quotes by Swiss Psychiatrist Dr. Carl Jung, which was completely foreign to me at that time. But, I never forgot it, and I knew one day I’d fully understand its meaning.
So, let's go back to my epiphanous moment there in the kitchen prepping my juices and listening to the guest Clinical Hypnotherapist on the wellness podcast. I was completely blown away and said to myself, "I wonder if Hypnotherapy would help me get to the root of what happened to me during my presentation?"
I was thrilled at the thought of finally getting an answer; however, I didn't quite know where to begin. I would've loved to have gotten a session with the Clinical Hypnotherapist on the show, but she was in LA, and we were currently on the tail end of the pandemic. So I took a mental note and promised myself I'd look for a local practitioner.
The days continued, and it was about a week out from my consultation with the Metaphysician Priestess, which I was still really excited about. Along with listening to the nutritionist's wellness podcast daily, I also watched the priestess's YouTube channel whenever she uploaded new content. Finally, the day of my consultation arrived, and it was truly incredible! It inspired me to better understand my lineage and continue my life as an ambassador for my ancestors and descendants. On that day, I made a promise to myself to focus on my own healing and, with the intention of not only transforming myself but completely shifting the trajectory of my entire bloodline. I loved the Metaphysician Priestess's work so much that I set my YouTube notifications for her channel to be alerted whenever she posted something new.
About a month or so after our meeting, I received a notification that she was going live, so of course, I tuned in. Surprisingly, she had a guest on this livestream, which was something new on her channel. I wasn't really interested in hearing what anyone had to say at that time, except her. I almost closed out the video, but something told me to wait a second. And I'm so glad I did, because her guest was a clinical and transpersonal hypnotherapist specializing in past life regression! It was funny how it all came together.
As I attentively watched and listened to her story, I was in awe and thought to myself, "I have to do this work." I subscribed to her YouTube channel right away and started binge-watching the sessions she had posted with her clients. I was completely hooked! The idea of accessing past life memories and traumatic events that are still affecting the soul or subconscious mind, causing physical and emotional symptoms in the present body, fascinated me.
At that moment, I realized this was not coincidental, and there was a reason for this profound synchronicity.
Once again, I knew there was something to this but didn't quite understand how to get to the bottom of it. So life kept life-ing, LOL. I continued working my 9-5 job, prioritized my health, and even started working out at a new gym. I know this is pretty lengthy, so I'm gonna wrap it up soon, promise!
To keep it brief, after about a month at my new gym, a friendly guy introduced himself. I had seen him around, so it wasn't weird or anything. Since I was a new member, it felt nice to have at least one acquaintance. Anyway, a few weeks later, in conversation, he asked about my job. Of course, I went on and on about my healthcare contracting work, probably boring him. Finally, I thought, "Enough about me," and asked him what he did for a living...
I remember this moment as if it happened yesterday. He paused, smiled slightly, momentarily looked away, then turned back at me and calmly said, "I'm a Clinical Hypnotherapist." I was shocked! I sat there in disbelief for a moment, half-expecting him to say, "Just kidding." But instead, he shared how he felt unsupported by certain family members regarding his career choice.
As I listened to him, I could hardly contain my excitement, knowing how much of a confirmation this was for me! That very day, I went home and searched for hypnotherapy schools. In just three days, I was enrolled at the Institute of Interpersonal Hypnotherapy. The process was stress-free and seamless, as if it were meant to be. I received exceptional training at The Institute of Interpersonal Hypnotherapy, widely regarded as one of the top state-licensed hypnotherapy schools in the country. It was crucial for me to attend a state-licensed school, as my research revealed that only hypnotherapy credentials from such schools are recognized and considered valid by the U.S. Department of Labor.
From the Institute, I have obtained the following esteemed credentials: Hypnotherapist, Clinical Hypnotherapist, and Transpersonal Hypnotherapist. I am also a member of the International Association of Interpersonal Hypnotherapists.Driven by my passion for this work and my belief in lifelong learning, I pursued additional training in Introspective Hypnosis and Past Life Therapy. I am certified in both modalities, which enriches my expertise and allows me to offer comprehensive services to my clients.
As a professional Hypnotherapist, I am passionate about elevating the industry's standards. I strive to educate, dispel myths and misconceptions, and provide clarity regarding the historical uses of hypnosis and the contemporary practice of hypnotherapy. I hold myself to the highest levels of training, education, and professionalism, as my clients deserve nothing but the utmost quality of service and support.
I truly believe Hypnotherapy opens up a whole new realm of possibilities, allowing us to explore unknown aspects of ourselves and reach our absolute highest potential. It helps us gain remarkable clarity and understanding of our deep inner minds, while providing unwavering support for lasting change.
Hypnotherapy utilizes the power of hypnosis to introduce positive change with positive suggestions into your subconscious mind, which is the part of our mind that is resistant to change. With the right suggestions, we become empowered to transform the way we think, feel, and behave.
And this is precisely why hypnotherapy is such an incredible tool for change. By transforming our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, we can conquer any challenge and accomplish things that once felt impossible. Hypnotherapy works because it gets to the bottom of whatever the issue is. It bypasses our critical conscious mind and connects with our subconscious mind. It changes our deep inner thoughts, feelings, and behaviors from the inside out. It tackles the root of the problem – not just the symptoms.
